Suffering from Seasonal Depression?

This blog reviews the best (and worst!) light therapy lamps and sun lamps for treating Seasonal Affective Disorder.

About Me

I suffer from seasonal depression.  Many people don't think of this as a serious illness.  Everyone gets the blahs during the winter, right?

Seasonal affective disorder, or SAD, is much more than just the winter blues.  People who suffer from it actually meet the threshold for clinical depression during the winter.  During the rest of the year, they're fine.

As for me, I can get much worse than depressed during the winter -- I can actually become psychotically depressed.  Yeah, I didn't know it could happen either.  Then, in 2010, I found myself convinced that the universe was devouring all the light.  It was using my microwave cabinet to do this.  I covered the microwave cabinet so the light could bounce off something instead of being devoured.

Lucky for me, I was self-aware while all this was happening.  That is to say, I knew these thoughts were irrational.  I took the actions I did to humor myself.  Then I saw my psychiatrist and he told me that I had become psychotic.

He also told me to go home and get a sun lamp RIGHT NOW.

So I did.  Since then I've tried all sorts of light therapy.  I've learned how to choose a light therapy lamp.  Now I share that information with you.

And yes, I do earn a small affiliate credit for the products featured on this blog.  I'm unemployed, I've got issues, and I need to earn money where I can.
